TomatoR2#
Straggly bush, indet. Tomatoes 2-3cm diam, red, in trusses of 5-6. Flavour sweet, somewhat bland, slightly acid tartness that somehow stands separate from the main flavour. Juicy. Prolific and early.
Fruit tends to split easily (though this may just reflect the irregular water they've been getting in SummerSeason09!) MouseBirds love them and will demolish them before they ripen fully, so netting is a must.
SummerSeason09#
A volunteer bush in GardenBed0. Actually there were two, but I mistook one of them for a RedCherryTomato plant and yanked it out. Idiot! The fruit look very similar to RedCherryTomato, but are much larger -- 2 to 3cm diam. -- so just what I've been looking for as a salad Tomato.
Notes for next year: Must ensure that I plant several plants and select those less prone to fruit splitting. This Tomato is too good a salad tomato to let go, but the tendency to split is a problem. Splitting might also be symptomatic of the irregular water this dry season.
Conclusion#
This plant (and the one I removed) are merely stray Resi Gold. The plant behaviour, fruit characteristics (including flavour) is too close to Resit Gold for me to distinguish. I must conclude that the plant somehow got established independent of the main Resi Gold planting. Nevertheless, they've been very welcome -- not to mention prolific.
