The upper part of our plot is... well, not exactly flat, but... the flattest piece of land we have. About 1800m2 in extent (roughly 30x60m), anchored by the Tiny Dam in the NorthEast corner, the topsoil is quite thin and the soil really heavy and sullen. Judging by the soil condition, I would guess that this was the most-used part of the land by our forerunners here, and so the most-abused. Ploughed lifeless, cattle-trodden, never replenished, the only part of the plot where soil conditions are worse may be the slope that our predecessors ploughed in furrow2s straight downt he hill "to improve the drainage," resulting in an almost total absence of topsoil.
