WinterSeason09#
- 20-May-09
- Remainder of bed (3 stretches) raked back into shape -- no digging. Sowed 1 stretch of 2 rows each GoldenSweetPea and GreenfeastPea with a row of WinterBlackRadish. Remaining 2 stretched sowed to 2 rows AquadulceBroadBean; then an outside row (West side) of MangeToutKennedyPea and (East side) BlackEyedBeans in the hopes that (to the extent the Pease need to climb) they'll use the Broad Beans for poles. More WinterBlackRadish down the middle. This might be a bit optimistic for this bed.

- Just dug over half the bed in preparation for Winter Legumes. Soil seems in pretty good condition -- still quite a bit of old compost, which is something of a surprise. I don't expect it to contribute much in the way of nutrition, but at least the soil condition is reasonable. Plan to plant a few short rows each of MungBean, SoyBean and BrownLentil -- all very old seed, so not holding my breath much. Then I want some more Snow, Snap and Shelling peas, and maybe some BroadBeans if there seems to be enough room.
SummerSeason09#
Quite a mix of Tomatoes (IdaGoldTomato, GoldNuggetTomato) in the South end, some Squashes -- completely lost to drought -- and DeerTongueLettuce in the N end for seed -- also pretty much a washout since the dams ran dry and there was no water while the Lettuces were flowering and setting seed.
