The classic giant garlic, it produces only 3 to 5 cloves per head. But they're huge! Flavour is milder than ordinary Garlics and quite subtle. At Braamekraal they're a Winter crop, cloves planted in Autumn come to harvest in late-Nov/early-Dec. They're actually a variety of Leek, though there seems to some debate among botanical taxonomists about what species of Allium they really are. Meanwhile they're completely trouble-free, tasty and save a lot of peeling, so we're hooked.
