Deep red coloured Beets to about 12cm diam., though many are usually smaller. Beets remain tender even when large and very mature. No strong zonation in the roots. The skins of the Beets tend to look dull and ugly, but once cooked and peeled they're lovely. Young Beets are wonderfully sweet and flavoursome -- so much so that they seldom make it to the dinner table, instead getting snacked up like irresistible fruit or sweets. I like to put them on Pizzas.
Cabbage Beetles love to eat the leaves, so we almost never get to harvest Beet leaves, though they are also good to eat.
This variety is extremely hardy, surviving even as tender, young seedlings through complete drought conditions (as proven during SummerSeason09.) Will grow successfully for us all the year round.
